Tuscany is one of Italy’s most popular regions and it has an incredible amount to offer. From stunning landscapes and breathtaking views to delicious cuisine, picturesque villages and world-famous art cities, there is no shortage of things to do in Tuscany. Here are some of the best activities that you can enjoy in this spectacular region:

1. Visit Florence – The birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, Florence boasts many must-see attractions such as the Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio. Get lost in the cobblestone streets full of cafes and boutique stores or wander around the historical monuments. The city is filled with historic hotels and amazing restaurants. Whatever you choose to do, be sure not to miss out on all the culture and beauty that Florence has to offer!

2. Explore Siena – Dubbed ‘the most beautiful city in Italy’, Siena is a great day trip destination from Florence. Its main attraction is the Piazza del Campo, a large square which hosts many festivals throughout the year such as Palio di Siena, an intense horse race with 16 riders representing 17 different neighborhoods. Besides exploring its stunning medieval streets, you can also take part in some of the local traditions such as il tufo and buy souvenirs at Il Campo Souvenir Market.

3. Visit San Gimignano – Located south of Siena, this small Tuscan town is known for its 14 medieval towers which are scattered around the area. Wander through its cobblestone streets and indulge in some of the local delicacies such as gelato, schiacciata (flatbread) and panforte (a cake made with honey, nuts and spices). You can also explore San Gimignano’s churches and admire the views from one of the city walls.

4. Go wine tasting – The Chianti region is known for its excellent wines and you can find many wineries where you can do some tastings. Discover different types of wines in a range of styles including Sangiovese or Cabernet Sauvignon, all produced with traditional processes that have been passed down from generation to generation. Most wineries also offer pairings with local cheeses and other delicious snacks.

5. Hike through the Tuscan countryside – The rolling hills of Tuscany are perfect for a leisurely stroll or an adventurous hike. You can find many trails around the region, from easy walks to more challenging hikes where you can admire stunning views of vineyards, olive groves and historic villages. Some of the most popular routes include La Via dei Monti which runs along the Apennines and La Strada del Vino (Wine Road) in Chianti Classico.

Tuscany is full of unique experiences that will make your trip unforgettable. Whether it’s exploring cities like Florence or hiking through the countryside, make sure to take some time and enjoy all that this stunning region has to offer.
