Siena is a beautiful Tuscan city filled with history, art, culture, museums, restaurants and stunning views. One of the best things to do in Siena is to explore its winding alleyways and cobblestone streets. Wander around the old town and you’ll find many hidden gems like churches, piazzas and medieval buildings such as Palazzo Pubblico and Torre del Mangia. Admire the gorgeous architecture while taking in the sights, smells and sounds of this ancient Italian city.

When seeing all that Siena has to offer, make sure to spend some time at Il Campo – Siena’s main square. Here you can witness the famous twice-yearly horse race called the Palio or try some of the delicious local cuisine. After a day of sightseeing, take some time to relax and enjoy the city’s vibrant nightlife. There are many bars, pubs and restaurants where you can sample traditional Tuscan dishes and sip on some local wines.

If you’re looking for something a bit more active, there are plenty of outdoor activities in Siena. You can go for a leisurely hike or bike ride through Tuscany’s rolling hills and valleys before stopping off at one of its many vineyards to sample some of the region’s famous wines. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to stay within the city limits, there are lots of parks and gardens to explore.

Another great thing to do in Siena is to visit its many museums and galleries. See amazing works of art by some of the world’s most famous artists such as Michelangelo, Raphael and Caravaggio at the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena or enjoy a fascinating historic tour of the city at the Museo Civico. For those who are interested in Italian literature, there’s also a museum dedicated to Dante Alighieri – one of Italy’s most renowned poets and authors.

No trip to Siena is complete without taking a day trip out into Tuscany’s picturesque countryside. Enjoy exploring villages like Montalcino, where you can sample some of the region’s renowned Brunello di Montalcino wines. Or take a drive to Chianti, where you can sample some of Italy’s best olive oils. The countryside is also filled with rustic hotels that will make your stay that much more memorable.

For a more spiritual experience, visit the Siena Cathedral and Climb its famous 400-step stairway for fantastic views over the city. The cathedral was built in honor of Santa Maria Assunta and is considered one of the most beautiful churches in all of Italy.

Whether you’re looking for culture, history or outdoor activities, there are plenty of things to do in Siena that will suit all tastes and budgets. So why not take a trip to this magical Tuscan city and find out why it’s considered to be one of the best destinations in Italy?

You won’t regret it!
